Groom's Supper

On Friday evening, we attended the groom's supper--the bride and groom
Parents of the groom:  host & hostess of the party.
The tables were beautifully set (theme color was pink)...
...and the centerpieces were a work of art!

Hugs all around
The little girls that were in the wedding party received the perfect gifts from the bride and groom!

Caring for the folks

It was fun to go back "home" to visit my parents. Since my sister and I stayed together, we were able to attend to some of the medical and cosmetic needs of our folks. Like a hair trim...
blood pressure check and medication review...
checking out mother's new laptop.
We even worked in a pedicure!
(Interestingly enough, the pastor's text for our nephew's wedding was about Jesus washing the feet of His disciples, and how the husband and wife needed to show a servant attitude toward each other in order for the marriage to survive and grow.) I think that each member of the family needs to practice this attitude, huh?

Happy Birthday to a wonderful man

Today I celebrate the man I love.
I celebrate his faith: a faith that he has in God; a faith that is practiced daily; a faith that he seeks to instill in the hearts of his family, friends, and congregation.
I celebrate his character: a man after God's heart that seeks to please Him in all his ways; a man that is willing to be molded and made into the vessel God wants him to be.
I celebrate his love: that reaches out to those around him; that sees beyond the exterior to the heart of a person.
I celebrate his heart: a heart that is tender toward the Lord and sensitive to God's Word; a heart of love that reaches out to a world that needs hope.
Happy Birthday to the man I love.

M&B Overnight

We had so much fun last week when M&B came to stay for a couple of days. It was such a delight to have the mess and chaos that went along with a baby and a toddler! And it certainly gave us a new appreciation for just a bit of what is involved in caring for the needs of their little ones.

Curiosity?

Surfing the web with dad
Sleeping beauty
And we were able to see the first signs of Em's miracle eyes tracking an object!
We enjoyed alot of playtime together
The time went by all too quickly. Thanks so much for the visit and for letting us love on those babies for so many hours! We had such a fun time!

Movin' On

Ten days ago, the clinic where I work was moved to a new building. For the past almost three years, our staff shared these small quarters with another department. It was both exciting and sad as we packed up our boxes and moved to a newer, bigger location.
This is the small corner that was my "home" during the past 3 years. Because our building was old, I taped old calendar pictures to the walls, to cover up the faded and tearing wallpaper. It made the little room feel more homey and it was always interesting when my patients would speculate as to the locations of the photos.
We miss our friends that we worked with side-by-side for the past few years, and also the fun pot-luck lunches that we had together. It will take more planning, but we will try to continue our traditions of celebrating our birthdays with a potluck lunch! Good luck A & L as you adjust to your new workplace this week!
