New Arrival

I've been in Minnesota visiting my parents for the past week. I was so happy that my niece gave birth while I was here. We got to meet Jaxon for the first time 3 days ago.
 The very proud new father!
Great Grandma with her sixth grandchild.
The future golfer and hunter! (Daddy said that he arrived just in time to watch the PGA with him)
 The very proud grandparents
I was so happy that I could be here to meet my newest great nephew!
The loving mother. I heard a saying today that is very true: "Everytime a baby is born, parents are also born." God's blessings L and A on the birth of your beautiful baby boy!

Vacationing in SoCal

Last week our niece and her husband spent a week of vacation in SoCal. They came to spend Sunday with us, and since they had not been to the beach yet, we took them to our favorite spot!
We all enjoyed a walk along the ocean front. The sunshine was marvelous!
Don't they look like rested vacationers?
This was the sign that was posted just above the area where we stopped for a treat.
We topped off the trip to the beach with ice cream, as we rested.
Thanks David and Julie for spending a day with us! We loved having you come to visit.

Three years old!

Our first grandchild just turned three years old! Time has gone so fast, it seems like just last month that we heard we were going to be grandparents for the first time. For this special boy, grandma and grandpa created this airplane cake!
I remember how much practice it took to have him blow out his first candle...and look at him now!
 Daddy's big boy
the whole family, Happy Birthday Jayden!
Jayden having fun in the back yard with his John Deere tractor.
Jayden got a T-ball set for his birthday so that he can practice his game.
 The little slugger
 ...and the catcher???
This guy is getting to be such a ham!
 He's already such a handyman--his lucky mom!
Helping daddy put together his new wooden toy truck.
A week after his birthday, Jayden brought his family to visit us. Well, maybe the parents brought the kids to visit us. Anyway, we loved the time that we had together!
This little boy will soon be walking
 Such a cute little guy
He loves this dog, and we love these visits from our little boys and their parents! Have a wonderful third year, Jayden. We love you!

A Week of Fun Memories

I am so far behind with blogging but will try hard to catch up a bit!
About a month ago, M&B came to spend a week of vacation time with us. They stayed at our house and enjoyed going to many of the close attractions in our area. One day we went to the Discovery Museum with some of B's friends. The kids loved seeing Elmo--well, at least one little girl was VERY happy to see the red furry creature!
This little girl preferred Big Bird...
and look who took the center of Elmo's lap on this pic!
We read alot of books together, and also watched Curious George cartoons every evening.
With all the piano playing, I really do hope that someday we will have at least one musician in the group!
Little chairs are always a big attraction for the wee ones...
and back to the piano again!
We loved hearing the squeals of delight from the swing on the back porch...
and Poppi loved having his lap full of little girls!
These two sisters are starting to do more things together.
Isn't she just the cutest little "lap-lander?"
Giving daddy some special attention (she's all set for Easter with her new gloves).
One afternoon, B & I took the girls down to the beach to play in the water and sand.
It was a cool day, but we bundled them up and actually had alot of fun!
K did really well with the sand, considering that she does NOT like dirt!
And this little girl was just content to sit--and occasionally sample the sand!
We had a great time watching for the waves and then splashing in the water...
and also scaring off the huge flocks of birds that gathered to watch us having fun! We are really looking forward to the warmer weather and another day at the beach. (Just last week, K called me and said, "Nana, I wanna go beach! I wanna make castle.")
Oh yes, we look forward to the next trip to the beach with the little ones and all the fun we will have!
