A Fun Weekend

This past weekend, my (Marilyn) sister Rebekah and husband Chuck came to visit. We were thankful that they were treated to some sunshine while they were here, even though we did have several hours of rain.
After church on Sunday, we took a trip to visit our children and grandkids. K just loves to walk backwards and then sit on whoever is closest. She really loved Chuck's lap!
and all the attention from great aunt Rebekah
and grandpa always has a shiney pen in his pocket
Don't you just love those cute little feet?
Next stop was to cousin J's house, with more toys to play with and more new places to explore!
There are always interesting things to play with on the fridge door
New clothes for J, and what does the dinosaur say? R-O-A-R!!!!!

K loves to climb the stairs!
the best attempt at trying to get a pic of the two kids together
J loves to listen to his mommy's heartbeat (and also his little brother's heartbeat!)
Gotta love those smiles!
On Monday afternoon we had a surprise visit from some dear friends from North Dakota! They were vacationing here in the area and called while I was at work. Fortunately, it was my half-day, so we were able to spend some time together catching up on all the news from "back home." It is so good to have so many friends and family members come to see us here. We are truly blessed!

Weekend visitors

Last weekend we had a visit from our grandson and his parents! It was so fun to have them stay overnight so that we could spend a little bit more time together.
Jayden is starting to "pretend" now, so we had a little "tea party"
He loves big shoes!
And he loved helping Daddy and Grandpa wash the cars on Saturday morning.
This weekend, my sister Rebekah and her husband came to visit. Actually, we had a very busy week with lots of visitors...
My cousin Cheryl and husband Stan were with us for most of the week. Alas, I did not take any pictures of our many times together!
On Saturday evening, Jim & I took Rebekah to Downtown Disney. We enjoyed showing her many of the fun sites there.
She had never been to the Rain Forest Cafe. So that was a fun new experience for her.

We also visited the Legoland store. It is incredible to see the huge structures that have been built with all those tiny blocks! Look at the perspective of this giraff with the people at the bottom of the picture.

There were several stages with musicians performing their particular kind of music. (and usually a group of kids or adults dancing to the rhythm of the songs!)
We really enjoyed listening to this guy singing the "blues."
A photo op with Capt Hook
We took a walk down to the waterfalls (in the background with the pink lights behind the falling water. The colors keep changing; it is so beautiful)
The night was cold, so we had to wear jackets!
We enjoyed being in the "Happiest Place on Earth"
As we were walking back to our car, the fireworks show began, and Rebekah was convinced that the fireworks display was just for her! She took many, many pictures of the event! It was a fun evening and we got plenty of exercise by all the walking that we did.

Babysitting

We were so happy to be able to finally see our newest grandchild a few times the past 10 days. Last Sunday we stopped by the NICU on our way to Pasadena, so that we could see Emily again. We didn't know at the time that it would be the last time that we can see her, maybe until she gets to come home to her family. She was sleeping the whole time we were there, so we didn't want to wake her. She is still so tiny, but is obviously growing and we praise God for the progress that she continues to make.

Next,  we were on our way to Chuck and Penny's house where we spent time with "big sister" K. She certainly is grandpa's sweetheart! Marilyn actually spent Friday thru Monday taking care of K so that Bec would have more time at the hospital and also for some needed rest.  Her co-workers were willing to help with the schedule so that she also took Monday off to be with Bec and K.

And such a fun time grandma and K had! Exploring the outdoors...
reading books...
(Look at those cute little curls!)
the little pianist
even reading music???
K loves cell phones! Actually, anything that has a button to push is quite fastinating for her. After each hospital visit, she loved "helping" her mommy send out texts to update friends and family members so that they were informed of the latest developments in her little sister's condition. We were blessed with very nice (but cool) weather this past weekend, so were able to take walks around the neighborhood.
We are so grateful for all the help we received from Chuck and Penny. Thanks for your hospitality and care! We appreciate you more than words can ever begin to express.
