Visitors Make Us Happy!

This past weekend, we enjoyed having visitors! Andy came to stay with us for the weekend and also to visit our church. We have known and worked with his parents for years. Now it was fun to get to know Andy as an adult and also to meet his girlfriend.
Andy & Rachelle with her mother.
And this happy little boy also showed up on Sunday! He loves pizza.
It is so much fun to see him walking all over now!Such a handsome basketball player! He loves that backyard swing.....and light switches...and stairs! This little cutie also showed up in church on Sunday! (Oops, she forgot to take her sunglasses along for the picnic after the service!) Of course, everyone loves K! This little girl was quite enamored with her.
Many people got to share in the joy of holding our pretty grand-daughter.
K even got a manicure from Auntie Krista while she was here visiting!
Such a fun weekend--we treasure each and every memory.

women's retreat 2009

Last weekend, our annual womens' retreat for our church district was held. This year we went to a location closer by than in years gone by, so the drive was not as long. The conference center was a beautiful setting and very relaxing, besides a time of great spiritual enrichment.
There were many hot springs located around the campus; fun and soothing spots to relax in at night
This was the view from our front door (we were on the second floor).
Hot springs that fed into a lake.
I had a great time with Penny!

Look Who Came to Visit

Last week we had a surprise visit from this little one and her parents!

M&B wanted a date-night supper, so we babysat for a couple of hours so they could have some time together.

Thanks for stopping by, M&B! What a special visit!

Time at the Beach

On Saturday, we packed a picnic lunch and went to Laguna Beach to enjoy the warm sunny day. Enjoy some memories of our day together...

Meeting the GKs

After we visited the Mission Inn, we took Kari and Brent to meet our grandchildren and their parents, and also to see M&B's new home.
Jayden was as charming as ever! It is so fun to see him walking more.
After a month of vacation, this daddy knew he would miss his baby girl as he went back to work.
Kari got to spend only an hour with her cousin before he left for work, but it was a fun hour!
K meets K!
This little one is growing and changing so fast!
We love watching these two precious little ones together!
The evening ended all too quickly. But we are so thankful that we had this time together with our boys and their families. Thanks so much to our gracious daughters-in-law for hosting all of us in their homes and sharing their family time!

To the Mission Inn

This past weekend, we were privileged to have our niece Kari come to visit us. She needed a break from winter weather, but she also wanted to introduce her fiance Brent to us! We wished we could have given them warmer weather for their stay, but at least it was much warmer than the temps they left behind.
After a good night of sleep, we headed east to visit our boys and their families. Along the way, we stopped at the Mission Inn. Spanish influence can be seen in the many arches that punctuate the building. This lovely, historic building is surrounded by a district that is also very interesting.
Brent & Kari- admiring the beautiful flowers and landscaping
Jim & Marilyn- relaxing in the elegant hallway
I remembered this corridor so beautifully decorated with lights at Christmastime.
The historic Inn is surrounded by a large area where one can stroll, or just stop and rest. There were also many shops that were fun places to explore- including a delectable chocolate shop!
And guess what we saw when we crossed a street to get our car? (This is especially for all of you "Fergus-ites") For our other friends: we used to own a house very close to Lake Alice!
This was a wonderful first stop on our little trip...

Sleeping Beauty and the Little Prince

On Sunday, we had a wonderful surprise visit from M&B. Since they have been on vacation the past month, we hadn't seen baby K for a long time and wow! she has grown!
Kylie slept for most of the time she was here, but that's what babies do! We still marvel at her sweet little face!
She is a sleeping beauty, and so pretty in pink! ...or yellow. This was one of the few times during the afternoon that she did have her eyes open. And then, on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, our little prince came to visit! He loved the new swing on the back patio... and reading books... and playing with Grampa...
and "cooking" with Gramma... We love that smile and that cheery laugh!
And he loves music! Oh, such fun we had...come back soon, Jayden!
