And the weekends are full...

We've been too busy the past two weeks, and I've fallen behind on the news here on the homefront! Work has been hectic the past few weeks because co-workers have been on vacation. And soon it will be our turn! Meanwhile, here is what we've been up to:

On July 1st, we were invited to the 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration of this dear couple from our church. We have enjoyed getting to know them the last 18 months and felt honored to be a part of the celebration marking this milestone.
On that same day, we also celebrated the 89th birthday of Pastor Henry, our visitation pastor. We are so thankful for the prayers and faithful witness of this wonderful man and his wife! We love his wit and humor and only hope that we are that sharp when we reach his age!
Later in the afternoon, we traveled to Pasadena to meet with friends there regarding a missions project that their church has undertaken.
The afternoon was warm and lovely and we enjoyed the discussion and fellowship together.
On Monday afternoon, we were pleased to welcome Richard and Randee into our home. We spent several hours together catching up on family news, looking at pictures, laughing, and remembering past events...Our friendship goes back many years, and we have enjoyed renewing this relationship again.
This past weekend we celebrated Kari's first weekend "off" and Becky's and Krista's last week of school by gathering at M&B's house for a BBQ and some family time. Krista was very bold to venture out alone with the baby while her husband was working.
Of course, this little one was the center of attention!
Even his uncle got some special "Jayden time" before leaving for work.
After the baby left, the center of attention became the newest Wii game...

A family friend, Jeremy, also joined us for the day! That evening, we attended the graduation ceremony of our friend Jean-Baptiste.
We've known this man since he was a teenager in Africa, and have watched him grow up. His parents were wonderful friends of ours, and it was such an honor to see him receive his masters degree in Theology. We joined these friends from the Pasadena church who were at the graduation to celebrate with Jean. We know that the Lord will continue to use Jean as he returns home.

Yes, you have been busy but looks like some fun times spent with family and friends! Now it is our turn to see you within the next few days while you are on "vacation". Have a safe trip.

That was such a fun weekend hanging out -I love being in California! I guess I need a little practice with Wii, but I'm pretty sure there will be other opportunities while I'm here! :)

I loved this post! How interesting that you knew Jean in Africa! We met him when my dad was in Sem. What a nice man he is!
