To the Mission Inn

This past weekend, we were privileged to have our niece Kari come to visit us. She needed a break from winter weather, but she also wanted to introduce her fiance Brent to us! We wished we could have given them warmer weather for their stay, but at least it was much warmer than the temps they left behind.
After a good night of sleep, we headed east to visit our boys and their families. Along the way, we stopped at the Mission Inn. Spanish influence can be seen in the many arches that punctuate the building. This lovely, historic building is surrounded by a district that is also very interesting.
Brent & Kari- admiring the beautiful flowers and landscaping
Jim & Marilyn- relaxing in the elegant hallway
I remembered this corridor so beautifully decorated with lights at Christmastime.
The historic Inn is surrounded by a large area where one can stroll, or just stop and rest. There were also many shops that were fun places to explore- including a delectable chocolate shop!
And guess what we saw when we crossed a street to get our car? (This is especially for all of you "Fergus-ites") For our other friends: we used to own a house very close to Lake Alice!
This was a wonderful first stop on our little trip...
