the next generation

Last weekend, since none of our own kids were here, we "adopted" some kids for Mother's Day. This young couple showed up at church, and in talking with them, we discovered that we knew their parents and grandparents. We are so blessed with many friends and family literally from all over the world! And now, living in a hub of activity, we often have the privilege of having them visit. Over lunch, we also learned that the grandparents of this couple visited us while we were in Africa, and our youngest son worked with J for several months in AZ! It is indeed a small world!
The past few days, we have had the opportunity to house our cousin's son while he interviewed for a job here. We have known J since he was a baby; his parents were our closest neighbors (besides being family) when we lived in the village in Africa. What a joy to get to know this young man who is now married and has a family of his own--a dedicated follower of Jesus who desires to serve God someplace as missionary pilot.
The last evening of his visit, we were able to spend a short time in Downtown Disney. Thanks for your visit J!
Last weekend was a busy one for us! After board meetings in the AM, we headed east for our grandson's birthday party. After enjoying our time celebrating with family, we headed back home to attend a fund raising event for the youth in our church. They held a "dinner theater" (a first for them, and very well done!)
Our talented young people performed several funny skits, entertained us with beautiful music and served a delicious meal!
The kids are raising money so they can finance their trip to the Youth Convention this summer. We are so proud of them and their blessing to our church. We thank God for the next generation that He is raising up to serve Him!
