Day #6-cruise begins

On Sunday, after attending church with Jim's cousin and wife, we went out to eat at a lovely seafood restaurant. One of the great perks of living in the NW is the wonderful, fresh seafood dishes that are served (and consumed!). Thanks E&M for hosting us for the days that we stayed with you, and for all the wonderful times we enjoyed together.
The abundance of colorful flowers is everywhere in the NW.
On Sunday afternoon, we arrived at our first hotel, part of the cruise that was offered to us.
Over looking the bay at the port of Bellingham, we enjoyed the view of the ocean.
We hiked around the bay to the marina, looking in vain for the boat that we would board in the morning. (Alas, it had not yet arrived=)
We were excited for the days ahead of us, and also for the promised clear and sunny weather!
Our room that evening had a jacuzzi tub that looked into our large bedroom. Nice!
The next morning we were welcomed aboard the sailing vessel by first mate Ann.
Off on our adventure!
Our wonderful captain and his first mate.
After cruising slowly by several islands in the area, that afternoon we arrived at our first destination, Friday Harbor.
Totem poles over-looking the harbor, ferry boat just docking in the distance.
We stayed at this beautiful Bed & Breakfast.
Each bedroom was themed after a quilt block- ours was the "Dove in the Window."
Our room was decorated in blue and yellow...
...with two huge, delicious oatmeal cookies on the tray by the window.
During our free time that afternoon, we explored the harbor town.
Many of the locals are talented artists who sell their wares to the tourists.
Part of the B&B housing where we stayed.
 Delicious salmon supper!
Anniversary celebration cake (there were three couples in our group that were celebrating anniversaries).
The next morning was another beautifully clear, sunny day.
We enjoyed a huge, delicious breakfast in this sunny little cottage...
...then we bid farewell to Popeye (the one-eyed harbor seal)
...and pulled out of the busy harbor, headed for our next day of adventure!
