Family Times (Day #5)

On Saturday morning, we were able to spend a few hours with Jim's cousin and his wife. Our times together as families are never long enough! We have so much history together, since we lived as close neighbors and our kids grew up together in Africa. We appreciated the hours that we were able to share now, especially in light of the recent family tragedy. (They are the parents of the young man who was recently killed together with his wife, in the missionary plane crash in Zambia.)
Grandma and the eldest of the orphan girls
We were grateful for the short time that we were able to spend with L. She is the sister of the young man who was killed. She and her husband now have custody of the two little girls. It is a daunting task to suddenly be caring for 5 little ones now, instead of just her three children.
 Grandma B and M.
Grandpa and the youngest of the two girls.
Please pray for L&B as they adjust to parenting their five children. Pray for the kids as they adjust to each other; pray for a larger home for the family. Pray for the little girls as they adjust to the loss of their parents, and for their cousins as they now adjust to sharing their parents.
That afternoon, we drove over to one of the islands where another of Jim's cousins has recently built a lake home.
Situated on a bluff overlooking the bay, we enjoyed a beautiful view.
 M and S
S has a wonderful decorator's touch; her island home looked like a page out of Northwest Living magazine.
The three cousins enjoyed the afternoon together, and even decided to do some "hunting/gathering."
The three great hunters set off in their small boat to check the crab-pots, hoping for a good harvest! And indeed it was; they brought back three juicy crabs.
This was our first experience with Dungeness crab--from ocean to table, and it was delicious!
Thanks to D&S for a wonderful afternoon on the island!
