Two weekends ago, J&K called up and asked us to meet them at a nearby beach. It was a bit overcast in the morning (here we call it "June gloom") but it always burns off by noon.
We found out that this was one of the favorite spots for surfing!
J was super excited to go in the water. (It was not very warm, but he loved jumping the waves!)
Little brother, on the other hand, was content to just stay in Mom's arms! He didn't like the feel of the sand on his feet, he didn't like the water--he just liked to watch!!!
But finally Grandma coaxed him, step by step across the sand...
...and soon we were even enjoying building castles!
Meanwhile, big brother ventured further out with daddy, looking for the next big wave to come his way!
A few hours later we had a delicious picnic and some birthday gifts (yes, the party continued!), and Father's Day gifts. Then we just enjoyed some fun family time together.
While we were eating, this seagull landed close by. Then we noticed that he had only one foot! But he still managed to get around very well.
I can't believe that my oldest grandchild has feet that are almost as big as mine! He is growing up so fast!
After one final splash in the ocean, it was time to head for home. This little guy was so tired, and so very sad to leave after having so much fun! We only wish that they lived closer by so that we could do this more often! Thanks for such a fun day at the beach, kids!
